Our Home in Waldport With Attached Condo

Sitting high on a hill, this property has stunning, unobstructed views of the Alsea Bay, the Alsea Bay Bridge, the town of Waldport and the Pacific Ocean.  We live in the three-bedroom main home, and provide a central Oregon vacation rental in the condo above our garage.

The condo is a beautiful, spacious (1066 square feet) one-bedroom unit with its own separate garage and entry. It has a perfect living space with two chairs, a couch, a big-screen TV and a cozy gas fireplace; a charming dining area; a complete kitchen with a large bar that can also be used as a workspace; a lovely bathroom with a shower and tub; a laundry room with a laundry sink and a full-size washer and dryer; a deck with a BBQ; and a spacious bedroom with two comfortable beds…a California king and a twin.

You’ll have a fabulous ocean view of the ocean outside the west window in the bedroom…there are two chairs for sitting to watch our glorious evening sunsets. You'll see seagulls, cormorants and great blue herons; and maybe brown pelicans, osprey, bald eagles, towhees, red crossbills and swallows.  Perfect for Oregon birders. The bedroom also has a lounge chair for napping or reading.

From the deck you can watch the morning sun rise behind the Alsea Bay Bridge, and crabbing and fishing boats motor in and out beneath the bridge.

The house was built in 2019, and is situated on top of a “mature sand dune”, per the geologic survey. Before the construction could begin we first cut the elevation by 10 feet, hauling out many truckloads of sand. Then we installed 14 helical piers under the house for stability, drilled in to the required point of resistance. To withstand the wind in the winter the southwest corner of the house has a steel frame.

We named the house "Puma Point" because our security cameras caught a cougar making its neighborhood rounds deep in the night several times as the house was being built. We like to think it was protecting the house during that time. It hasn’t been seen since we finished the house, but we have seen bears on the camera, and a bobcat in person!
